Final hot lap in a Holden supercar to be won
A new promotion from General Motors Australia and New Zealand is offering two lucky people the final official hot laps in a Holden supercar.
Announced ahead of The Bend round of the Repco Supercars Championship, the chance to ride in a Red Bull Ampol Racing ZB Commodore before Holden leaves the supercar grid forever is being described as a money-can’t-buy experience.
“As part of the transition from 50 years of Holden motorsport success to Chevrolet Racing, and with the move to Gen3 Camaro for the 2023 season, there is an outstanding opportunity to farewell the Holden supercar in appropriate style,” said Chris Payne, Chevrolet Racing General Manager.
“In a fitting fan finale, two winners and a friend will go for a ride in a Red Bull Ampol Racing Commodore, enjoying the honour of being part of Holden’s illustrious motorsport history.”
At The Bend on the weekend of 30-31 July, Holden achieved what will be their final Supercars Manufacturers’ Championship, thanks to three straight wins from Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen. Since the Manufacturers’ Championship was introduced to Supercars in 1999, Holden has won it on 16 occasions, including an unbroken streak from 2010 to 2016, and more recently, wins in 2018 and 2021.
From 2023, Holden Motorsport will make way for Chevrolet Racing and the ZB Commodore will be replaced on the grid by the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 as Supercars enters the Gen3 era. The all-new Camaro will be battling against a new, Gen3-spec Mustang.
The General Motors competition includes hot laps at Sydney Motorsport Park this November for the two winners and a mate each, as well as flights and transfers if required. To enter, follow the official Holden Motor Sport Facebook page and describe, in 25 words or less, why you should win the final official Holden hot lap experience.
Entries close on 9 October – race day for this year’s Bathurst 1000.
