Toyota expands LandCruiser heritage parts programme
Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) used January’s Tokyo Auto Salon to announce that more parts to suit classic LandCruisers will soon be available under the brand’s ‘GR Heritage Parts Project’ - an initiative that was created to reissue discontinued replacement parts, so owners of classic Toyotas can “keep on driving their memory-filled beloved cars”.
LandCruiser parts were first added to the GR Heritage Parts Project in 2021, and while that range is extensive, it’s only been available for the 40 Series.
This year, TGR plans to launch 32 items for eight different models, expanding by three the range of Toyota LandCruiser variants covered.
The initial step in this process will see rear axle shafts to suit the LandCruiser 70 and LandCruiser 80 Series released in April.
Since the beginning of the GR Heritage Parts Project, TGR has encouraged Toyota customers to submit requests, via the GR Heritage Parts website, for the parts they want to see reissued.
On the same day that this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon opened (13 January), TGR announced they will start accepting requests from LandCruiser 60, 70 and 80 customers for new reissued parts.
As with this project’s approach to other classic Toyota models, the types of LandCruiser parts to be reissued will take customer requests into consideration, presumably on a numbers basis, with the cost, complexity and profitability of the part in question being other factors.
