The Dart Big M Chevy big block is a no-compromise design that solves the problems that have plagued big blocks for years. They feature an improved oiling system, extra-thick cylinder walls, 4-bolt mains, and scalloped water jackets for improved coolant flow. This is the ideal foundation for this short assembly. Their 2-piece, forged, vacuum-degassed, 4340-certified steel construction provides outstanding strength, while still weighing much less than stock rods. Each rod is multi-stage heat-treated, x-rayed, sonic-tested, magnafluxed, 100 percent machined, and shot-peened to stress-relieve the metal. The rods have precision cap alignment sleeves to positively locate each rod cap. They come standard with 190,000 psi rated ARP 8740 and 230,000 psi rated ARP 2000 rod bolts. Cranks you can rely on and afford. Eagle cast steel crankshafts for Chevy feature .092 radii on the rod, main journals, rear seal, and snout for increased strength. Each of these cranks is inspected for dimension, size, and stroke accuracy, has a journal finish of 6 R.A. or less, and has a target bob weight of +/- 2 percent for reduced balancing time.
